Queenscliff Beach will host the second event of the 2022 Surftag Series with the GROMMETS SURFTAG presented by Surf Culture Bondi on Saturday.

For the first time since SURFTAG was founded in 2001, an U/14 division will be contested by 16 teams from all over Sydney, Central Coast and South Coast with the majority of the 80 surfers competing representing their local boardriding club for the first time.

Representing Long Reef Boardriders will be 13-year-old Murray Bamberry who has a busy weekend planned.

Bamberry has been selected to represent NSW at the Australian Junior Titles in November and December and will come out of NSW Training Camp on the South Coast Friday night to take up his spot in the Long Reef Team.

“I’m super excited to be surfing for Longy on the weekend and being a part of the team,” Bamberry said.

“Having all the support on the beach and people cheering for you is something I’m really looking forward to.”

Bamberry’s mother Fiona will be watching closely as she will also represent Long Reef for the first time at the Women’s SURFTAG Presented by Beachfox Sunscreen at Dee Why Beach on September 10-11.

Long Reef Boardriders will go into the Grommet’s SURFTAG as No.1 seeds after winning the U/18 Junior SURFTAG Presented by Guzman y Gomez earlier in the month.

The Long Reef Junior Team included standouts Kobi Clements and Xavier Bryce who will both be considered for selection in the Long Reef Team competing in the Men’s SURFTAG in October.

Competition is scheduled to start 8.00am Saturday, Queenscliff Beach, Sydney.
