On Sunday at Weldon Oval we took on Manly Bombers and recorded a satisfying and ultimately very exciting win 4.5.29 to 3.4.22
It’s been a struggle for us to get on the field this year, a mixture of byes and forfeits have worked against us.
But you wouldn’t have known it from our first quarter performance. We dominated the game and raced away to a lead.
The Bombers, though, good side that they are, steadily clawed their way back into it and were within one point in the final quarter.
It was a massive comeback.
But we refused to lose. And several players stood up when it counted.
Jessica Manning was outstanding in defending our lead, she led the team by dominating the ruck.
Lauren Bull, who had already kicked six goals for the U/16s in the previous game, didn’t let fatigue take her and kicked the match-winning goal in the fourth quarter.

Charli Munro played an important role in our win, too. Charli is an experienced player but new to the club and made her mark in our team with a tenacious display.
First season player Elise Wallace debuted for Division One this week, her attack of the ball set the standard for the team.
And Jess Bull played her position as a sweeper in the ruck perfectly. She set up many opportunities at the centre bounce and her defensive efforts were vital in our win.
