North Narrabeen will not host another World Surf League (WSL) event in 2022, reports the Northern Beaches Advocate,
After snatching a top tier WSL Championship Tour event this year, Northern Beaches surf fans were keen for the event to return next year. Hopes were dashed when the WSL schedule for 2022 was released this week, with only two top tier WSL Championship Tour events in Australia, at Bells Beach and Margaret River.
The WSL international tour was thrown into chaos this year by COVID-19. The event held at North Narrabeen in April was moved from Snapper Rocks, Queensland after the QLD Government refused to agree to special travel conditions for international competitors. Four of nine WSL Championship Tour events were held in Australia this year.

Northern Beaches surfing fans can take some consolation however, with the announcement of a WSL Challenger Series event at Manly from 17-24 May 2022. A feeder event for the Championship Tour, the event will be called the Sydney Surf Pro and will include juniors and qualifying trials.
